SHARING YOUR FAITH

(Without Feeling Awkward)

Sharing your faith can feel….awkward - for more than reasons than we can count. It’s so hard to put yourself out there and to risk rejection. But there is good news when it comes to sharing the Good News - Evangelism doesn’t have to be dramatic or scripted. It often happens in simple, natural moments. Here are a few really practical ways to share your faith- and hang out til the end because we’ll break down some of the fears that we all have when it comes to sharing our faith! Let’s get into it!

1. Live in a Way That Sparks Curiosity

Your actions often speak louder than words. The way you handle stress, show kindness, and offer forgiveness can be a testimony in itself. When people notice something different about you, it opens the door for conversations about Jesus.

2. Be Ready for Conversations

Opportunities to share your faith can come up naturally in conversation. A coworker shares they’re struggling, and you can say, “I’ve been through something similar, and my faith really helped me.” Someone asks what you did this weekend, and you mention something meaningful you heard at church or a great conversation you had. It’s not about throwing faith in someones face- it’s about letting what God’s doing show up in “out loud” ways.

3. Ask Simple but Powerful Questions

Instead of launching into a full gospel presentation, ask gentle questions:

  • "What gives you peace when life feels overwhelming?"

  • "Have you ever thought about faith?"

  • "Can I pray for you?"

4. Share Your Story

One of the most effective ways to share your faith is simply to share your story. A great format is:

  • Before Jesus, I was _____.

  • Then I encountered Jesus when _____.

  • Now my life is different because _____.

You don’t need to have everything figured out—just share from your heart.

5. Offer to Pray for Others

A simple “Can I pray for you?” can be incredibly powerful. Most people, even those who don’t follow Jesus, won’t turn down prayer. And it’s a way to invite God into the conversation without being pushy.

6. Meet Practical Needs

James 2:15-16 reminds us that faith without action is dead. If someone is hungry, buy them a meal. If a friend is overwhelmed, offer practical help. Meeting tangible needs opens the door for spiritual conversations.

Overcoming the Fear of Sharing Your Faith

It’s normal to feel nervous about sharing your faith. Here are some common fears and how to overcome them:

  • Fear of Rejection – Not everyone will respond positively, and that’s okay. Your job is to plant seeds; God does the growing.

  • Feeling Unqualified – You don’t need to know everything. Just share what you do know—Jesus loves, forgives, and transforms.

  • Worrying About Being Pushy – Evangelism isn’t about forcing a message. It’s about offering hope and allowing people to respond.

Why Does Sharing Your Faith Matter?

  1. People Are Searching for Hope – The world is full of people longing for peace, joy, and purpose. The gospel is the ultimate answer.

  2. Your Story Can Change Lives – You don’t need to have all the answers; you just need to be willing to share the impact faith has had on your life.

  3. Jesus Commands It – The Great Commission - our charge to “go” - isn’t a suggestion—it’s a calling for all believers.

  4. You Are Placed Where You Are for a Reason – Your workplace, your friendships, and your everyday interactions aren’t an accident.
