Uncomplicated: Steps of Faith

Steps of Faith (Even When You Have No Idea Where They’re Going)

Hey y’all.
So glad you’re here today—truly.

Because we’re diving into something that most of us wrestle with: taking a step of faith… when you have absolutely no idea where it’s leading.

Maybe it’s a giant leap.
Maybe it’s more like a baby step.
Maybe it’s that weird half-step where you freeze getting onto an escalator…

But here’s what I know: faith doesn’t stand still.

When You Know It’s Time to Move… But You’d Really Rather Not

Ever get that nudge from God—one of those holy elbows—and your gut reaction is:
“Yeah, no thanks. I’m actually good right here in my comfy little corner of predictability.”

I’ve been there.

Maybe you’re feeling unsettled in your job.
Maybe there’s a conversation you know you need to have.
Maybe God’s calling you into something new—and it’s exciting and terrifying and what if I mess the whole thing up, Jesus?!

That’s the thing about faith: it’s real easy to talk about, but it gets real real when you’re standing at the edge, trying to decide if you’re actually going to take the step.

Because what if you get it wrong?
What if it’s hard?
What if it doesn’t work out?

The “God, Can You Just Give Me the Full Plan?” Vibe

Let’s be honest—we want faith to come with a GPS and step-by-step directions. Preferably with estimated arrival times and optional scenic routes.

We want the five-year plan, the Pinterest board, and maybe a backup plan just in case.

But that’s not usually how God rolls.

Most of the time? He gives us just enough for the next step.
Not the full itinerary. Not even a teaser trailer.
Just... the next step.

Which is frustrating.
And also? Kind of freeing.
Because it means we don’t have to figure it all out before we move.

Stuck at the Edge of the Jordan

Let’s rewind to the Israelites.

God rescued them from slavery. Led them by fire at night. Sent them food from the sky (BC Doordash). Split the Red Sea.

And after all that, they finally get to the edge of the Promised Land… and panic.

They saw the obstacles and basically said,
“Never mind. Let’s just go back to Egypt. At least we know Egypt.”

Back to captivity.
Back to comfort (even if it was broken).
Because fear loves to masquerade as safety.

And I get it.
I’ve done it.
Not in the desert, but in my decisions. Staying where it felt familiar instead of stepping into the unknown—even when I knew God was calling me forward.

But here’s what I’ve learned:

Faith doesn’t guarantee comfort. It invites trust.

And cool thing… the more we trust God- the more trustworthy He will prove Himself to be!
And the Promised Land? That place God’s calling you to? It’s always on the other side of obedience.

So What Does That Step Look Like for You?

Maybe it’s:

  • Saying yes to something that terrifies you just a little.

  • Having that hard-but-holy conversation.

  • Choosing forgiveness when bitterness feels easier.

  • Being faithful in the small things that no one sees—but God absolutely does.

Or maybe it’s something else entirely.

But friend, can I just say this?

No step of faith is ever wasted.
Even when it’s scary.
Even when it’s slow.
Even when it doesn’t make perfect sense on paper.

God honors obedience. Period.

So if you’re standing at the edge, unsure, maybe even trembling a bit—go ahead and take the step.

Big or small.
Messy or confident.
With shaking knees or steady feet.

Just take it.
Because He’s already gone before you.

And you don’t want to stay stuck on the wrong side of the Jordan. Trust me.

Let’s Talk 👇

What’s one step of faith you feel like God’s nudging you to take right now? No pressure, no judgment—just an open space for honesty and encouragement.

Drop it in the comments or shoot me a message. I’d love to pray with you and cheer you on. 💛

And if this hit home, pass it along to a friend who might need the reminder. We’re not meant to do this alone.
