Journey to Easter

Week 1

As we move toward Easter, let’s slow down together and walk through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus—one day at a time.

This isn’t about adding pressure or another to-do to your list. It’s an invitation to pause. To reflect. To remember what Jesus has done and how it still changes everything today and everyday.

Each week, you’ll find a set of short daily readings, paired with a simple devotional thought and one question to help you reflect. Whether you’re reading through these at your kitchen table, in the school pickup line, or late at night after a long day—know that every moment spent in God’s Word is worth it.

Let’s walk this road together—toward the cross, the empty tomb, and the hope that never fades.

Easter Reading Plan: Week 1

Day 1: The Word Became Flesh

Pay attention to: The imagery of light and how Jesus enters into our world.

John 1:1–14

Devotional Thought: Jesus didn’t come to impress us from afar. He came to dwell with us—right in the middle of our ordinary, messy lives. The light of Christ still shines in our darkest places.

Reflection Question: Where do you need to remember that Jesus is present with you today?

Day 2: The Baptism of Jesus

Pay attention to: The voice from heaven and what it declares about Jesus.

Matthew 3:13–17

Devotional Thought: Before Jesus began His ministry or performed a single miracle, God called Him beloved. That same love and identity is offered to us—not because of what we do, but because of whose we are.

Reflection Question: Are you living from approval or for approval?

Day 3: Temptation in the Wilderness

Pay attention to: How Jesus responds to the lies and temptations He faces.

Matthew 4:1–11

Devotional Thought: Jesus meets temptation with truth. The enemy often speaks in half-truths, but God’s Word is our defense and anchor. Victory starts with what we believe.

Reflection Question: What lie are you believing that God’s truth needs to replace?

Day 4: Called to Follow

Pay attention to: The immediacy of the disciples' response to Jesus.

Matthew 4:18–22

Devotional Thought: Jesus doesn’t call the most impressive or put-together people. He calls those who are willing to follow—and transforms them along the way.

Reflection Question: What do you need to leave behind to follow Jesus fully?

Day 5: The Upside-Down Kingdom

Pay attention to: Who Jesus says is “blessed” and why.

Matthew 5:1–16

Devotional Thought: Jesus redefines blessing and invites us to see through Kingdom eyes. The overlooked, the meek, the hungry, the merciful—they’re not forgotten. They’re favored.

Reflection Question: Where is God calling you to be salt and light today?

Day 6: Do Not Worry

Pay attention to: What Jesus tells us to look at when we’re feeling anxious.

Matthew 6:25–34

Devotional Thought: Jesus draws our eyes to birds and flowers—not to be simplistic, but to remind us that we are seen, known, and deeply cared for by our Father.

Reflection Question: What’s one thing you can release to God today?

Day 7: Healed and Forgiven

Pay attention to: What Jesus says matters most—healing or forgiveness.

Luke 5:17–26

Devotional Thought: Jesus doesn’t just deal with symptoms—He addresses our deepest need. Sometimes faith looks like breaking through the roof just to get to Him.

Reflection Question: Where do you need healing—physically or spiritually?

Day 8: The One Matters

Pay attention to: Jesus’ response to lostness and why it matters to Him.

Luke 15:1–7

Devotional Thought: Jesus doesn’t shame the lost—He seeks them. He leaves the 99 to find the one, and heaven rejoices when they return. If you’ve wandered, you’re still wanted.

Reflection Question: Who’s the ‘one’ you can reach out to today?
